The Why …

My name is Laith, and I created this website to analyze Houston’s climate through a data-driven, local perspective. Growing up in the Houston area, I have experienced major climate-related events including Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Beryl, and the February 11–20, 2021 winter freeze, which disrupted power, water, and daily life across Texas. These experiences made the impacts of extreme weather and climate change feel immediate rather than abstract.

This website focuses on using local data and scientific research to examine how heat, storms, flooding, and rare cold events affect Houston. By connecting lived experience with evidence-based analysis, the website aims to educate visitors and highlight the importance of climate awareness and resilience in Houston’s future..
